New power transmission line to be constructed from Georgia to Russia
There are plans to construct a 500-kV power transmission line from Georgia to Russia.
According to Sulkhan Zumburidze, Chairman of the Management Board of the "Georgian State Electric System”, it has not been decided yet where to build the substation, through which the power transmission line will go.
“One of the major tasks for the construction of this line is to establish stronger contacts with Russia”, - he has stated.
The power transmission line must be supposedly commissioned in 2017. The project costs approximately $50 million.
