Sea Breeze 2013: Ukrainian frigate and U.S. patrol aircraft cooperate

Wednesday, July 17. UKRAINE – This year U.S. P-3 patrol aircraft will cooperate with Ukrainian frigate Hetman Sahaydachniy (U130), the latter will control movements of aircraft, give recommendations to its crew.

Rear Admiral Denis Berezovskyi, Ukrainian Co-Director of Exercise, informed that the aviation component forces would complete the tasks related to reconnaissance, presentation of surface situation, direction and support of ships, air defense, as well as troops transporting to landing area.

“According to the plot of Sea Breeze 2013, the military pilots work out tasks related to support of naval and land components as well as ‘imaginary enemy’,” stressed Rear Admiral Denis Berezovskyi.

About twelve aircrafts, in particular, Ukrainian An-26, B-12, L-39 aircrafts and Ka-27, Mi-14, Mi-8 helicopters, U.S. Navy P-3 patrol aircraft, German C-160 transport aircraft, as well as the rescue parachute airborne group participate in these evolutions.

Now, ships and units of the Ukrainian Navy to participate in international operations also undergo certification according to the Program of verification and feedback of concept of operative capabilities.
