Maritime Oil Exports from Russian Ports, Excluding Kazakh Oil, in August 2026

Our monitoring shows that Russia shipped the total*of 23 776 501 million metric tons (MMT) of crude oil from its ports in August 2026, down 2.2 MMT (-8.6%) from July and 3.7 MMT (-13.5%) from the record 27.4 MMT shipped in June.

In May 2026, 89 tanker voyages carrying crude oil departed from Baltic Sea ports, with a total export volume of 11 million tonnes. The trend of increasing exports to India continued: 63% (nearly 7 million tonnes) of crude oil exported from the Baltic Sea was transported to India.

In May 2026, Russia exported a record volume of crude oil from ports in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov. 58 tankers made 60 voyages, with a total export volume of 7.6 million tonnes. Half of the tankers were owned by companies registered in Greece.

In 2025, Russian crude oil shipped from Black Sea ports was delivered to 23 countries plus the EU member states. The five largest destinations accounted for 88.3% of the total: India (40.2%), EU countries combined (19.1%), Türkiye (10.6%), Singapore (10.0%), and China (8.4%).

In April 2026, 74 tanker voyages carrying crude oil were made from Baltic Sea ports. Export volume: 8.9 million tons. The decrease in volume compared to March is due to successful attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on oil terminals at the Russian ports of Ust-Luga and Primorsk.

According to the Monitoring Group of the Black Sea Institute of Strategic Studies, since the start of the full‑scale war ETHERA has completed 10 voyages, moving about 460,000 tons of Russian oil products to ports in Turkey, Morocco, and Brazil, as well as to STS transfer areas near EU coasts (Greece and Cyprus). It loaded at Russian ports in the Black Sea (Novorossiysk, Taman, and an offshore STS zone south of the Kerch Strait) and in the Baltic (Primorsk, Ust‑Luga, Saint Petersburg).

In January 2026, 11 violations (486 483 tons) of the EU/US embargo on seaborne imports of Russian petroleum products (excluding crude oil) to the transshipment points and EU/US ports from the Baltic Sea were recorded. The voyages were made by tankers belonging to shipowners registered in Greece, UAE, Singapore and China.
