Boiko, Miller agree on gas transit

Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister Yuriy Boiko and Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller at a meeting in Moscow on Wednesday settled the issue of transit of Russian gas through Ukraine in the autumn-winter period, according to Boiko's press office.

"The sides settled the issue of the scheduled autumn-winter period and the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine and providing Ukrainian consumers with gas," reads the statement.

A reminder that Ukraine's Energy Minister Eduard Stavytsky said on Wednesday that the Ukrainian gas storages as of today have pumped 12 billion cubic meters of gas and before the winter its reserves could be increased to 19 billion cubic meters.

According to Kommersant Ukraine, Ukraine agreed to increase gas reserves, necessary to ensure the uninterrupted supplies to the EU under the condition that Russia provides for this purpose an interest-free loan of USD 2 billion.
