The official closing ceremony of Sea Breeze 2013 was held in Odesa. Rear Admiral Denis Berezovsky, Exercise Director, remarked that the personnel of the participating countries demonstrated again their capabilities to ensure peace and security in the world.

“I’m happy to note that about 1,700 servicemen from 14 countries participating in these maneuvers showed professionalism, responsibility, and coordination of actions,” underlined Rear Admiral Denis Berezovsky. “The participants worked out all the tasks in an integrated manner, responded quickly and took decisions in conditions close to real ones”.

This year, four military units of Ukrainian Navy were evaluated under the Operational Capability Concept Evaluation and Feedback Program to ensure their future participation in international naval peacekeeping operations.

U.S. Navy Capt. James Aiken, U.S. Co-Director of Exercise, shared his impressions, too.

“We gathered here to celebrate the successful completion of Sea Breeze 2013. The participants worked out counter-piracy operations, humanitarian aid provision, emergency and disaster relief evolutions. We observed the great airborne operation of the Ukrainian servicemen from German C-160; cooperation of Ukrainian, Turkish, Romanian ships with aircrafts of USA, Germany, and Ukraine. All the participants completed vast evolutions and contributed much to security and stability in Black Sea Region. I thank the Ukrainian party and Odesa City for perfect organization and I’m looking forward a new meeting with the Ukrainian Navy’s personnel next Sea Breeze or as partners in open sea,” underlined U.S. Navy Capt. James Aiken.
