Blockade at Bulgarian-Turkish border lifted

The situation at the Bulgarian-Turkish border in the area of Kapitan Andreevo is gradually becoming normal again. The queue of trucks is now significantly reduced.

The two-day-long blockade of Bulgarian TIR trucks at the Kapitan Andreevo and Lesovo border checkpoints was lifted during the night, after Transport Minister Kristian Krastev and deputy governor of Edirne had reached an agreement on the free movement of the Bulgarian carriers.

The document reads that the Turkish side will set the Bulgarian drivers free from the restrictive measures that caused the tension. The queue of TIR trucks at Kapitan Andreevo reached 15 km in the course of 24 hours only. It became clear before the lifting of the blockade that PM Marin Raikov had planned the same restrictive measures for the Turkish carriers on Bulgarian territory.
