Cabinet endorses joining first document of Customs Union

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved possibility of Ukraine's joining the first document, operating within the frames of the Customs Union.

At a meeting on October 2, a decision was taken on joining the agreement on the coordinated policy in the sphere of technical regulation of sanitary and phytosanitary measures of the Eurasian Economic Community of January 25, 2008.

First Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister of Ukraine Anatoliy Maksiuta told journalists about this, the Finance Ministry portal informs.

“This is the first document of the Customs Union, whose joining was approved by the Ukrainian government,” Maksiuta has said.

He also said that further the government will determine next documents to be joined.

“We will gradually determine those documents, which we can join,” Maksiuta said.

According to him, in total complexity, Ukraine may join approximately 70 documents, however now direct work is going on to study possibilities of joining 16 of them.

After it was approved by the Cabinet, possibilities for direct joining will be discussed at consultations with the Eurasian Economic Commission, Maksiuta added.
