Exercise "Egrisi 2013" is over in Georgia

Exercise “Egrisi 2013” has come to an end 3 October. Demonstrative field-based training was held at the Orpholo firing-ground. Participants of the mission-oriented exercise included the personnel of II Artillery Brigade and 22nd Battalion of II Infantry Brigade.

According to Ministry of Defense of Georgia, the training was oriented at the preparation of units at the platoon level. According to the scenario, infantrymen were provided with artillery and tank support to deter the enemy. Companies of 22nd Battalion took part in the operation against the enemy and destroyed the targets from their positions with different weapons. Reactive Artillery systems of II Artillery Brigade and Platoon of “DANA” Division also engaged in the operation. During the final part of the exercise, trainings went on with the support of tank unit.

Deputy Minister of Defence Irakli Gegechkori, Chief of the JS of GAF COL Irakli Dzneladze, his deputies and other high-ranking army officials attended the model exercise. “One more large-scale training has ended. The mission that was specially planned has been accomplished. There were remarks, shortcomings, therefore we just hold such exercises in order to reveal them. It should be underlined that the military servicemen devoted too much time to practice in the use of weapons of various systems with simulators enabling them to conduct the training with less expenses and more effectiveness”, said Brig. Gen. Vakhtang Kapanadze.
