Ukraine’s national holidays to be also celebrated in Moldova

The Ukrainian Embassy in Moldova will organize a string of events dedicated to the Day of Ukraine’s National Flag, marked on August 23 and to its Independence Day, observed on August 24.  

According to the press service of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission, on Thursday morning, flowers will be laid to the memorial plaque dedicated to Ukrainian Hetman Ivan Mazepa.

The string of festivities will continue on the territory of the Bender-based Military-Historical Complex, where officials will lay flowers to the memorial plate dedicated to the Kazaks that fought under the leadership of Ukrainian Hetmans: Ivan Mazepa and Pylyp Orlyk.

In Tiraspol, diplomats and representatives of the Ukrainian Diaspora will lay flowers to the monument to Taras Hryhorovich Shevchenko, the great Ukrainian poet, artist and thinker. Also in Tiraspol, they will participate in a ceremony of handing special documents to Ukrainians from abroad, as well as the awarding ceremony of the winners of an international contest of Ukrainian language and literature.  

On Friday, August 23, Ukrainian Ambassador to Moldova Sergey Pirozhkov will held a news conference in Chisinau, focused on topical issues in the cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova, as well as on the prospects of intensifying the dialogue on European integration.  

On the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, the Ukrainian Embassy to Moldova will organize a laying flower ceremony to the monument to Taras Shevchenko, at the Chisinau-based school No.8.
