Airports in Romania meet all technical conditions for Schengen

From the technical standpoint, the Romanian airports are ready at any time for the country to join Schengen, said on September 28 the president of the Association of Airports in Romania, David Ciceo, in the General Assembly of the AAR held in Cluj-Napoca (north-west of Bucharest).

«I'd like to point out that everything what means airport activity is up to European standard and meets all requirements and regulations», said David Ciceo.

He said that Romania's accession to Schengen would bring many benefits to the Romanian airports and voiced hope that this would happen next year. «An eventual entry of Romania into Schengen, via the air borders, would bring benefits to the passengers and air companies, will greatly streamline the traffic. We are optimistic and we hope that, next year, Romania will join Schengen, which would represent an important step for the airports», David Ciceo emphasized.

AAR brings together 15 civil airports in Romania, as well as the associate members, companies with connected activities to the airport ones.
