  • 20 attacks by strike and decoy UAVs (Shahed-136/131, Geran/Gerbera, etc.)

*The number of attacks by weapon type may exceed the total number of attacks, as both missiles and UAVs could be used simultaneously.

For strikes on the ports of Greater Odesa, southern Odesa Oblast ports, and other areas, Russia used no fewer than:

  • 3 Iskander/Iskander-M/KN-23 BMs;

The bulker BLUE BEAD (IMO 9171113, San Marino flag), carrying corn and departing the port at the time of the attack, was also struck; the vessel remained underway. In Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district, a Russian UAV hit a winery, damaging the roof of a production building and triggering a fire on site.

13.01.2026 (morning)
Region attacked: Odesa
Weapon/Carrier: ≥10 UAVs, 1 Kh-31P ARM
Target: Civilian and energy infrastructure
Impact: In Odesa, Russian forces carried out two waves of attacks targeting civilian, energy, and social infrastructure from around 11:30 p.m. on January 12 until 3:00 a.m. on January 13. Damage was reported to a medical facility, a kindergarten, newly built residential buildings, an amusement park, a fitness club, garages, and nine vehicles.
A total of 45 apartments in eight multi-storey buildings were damaged, with 245 windows shattered and façades affected. The Odesa Professional Lyceum of Construction and Architecture was also hit: nearly 200 windows were blown out, the accounting office and archives were burned, one wall was breached and another destroyed. The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland sustained damage as well.
For the first time, Russian forces attempted to strike the building housing a UN humanitarian mission: two Shahed-136 loitering munitions followed the same trajectory toward the site, damaging the façade glazing. Six civilians were injured in the attack.

15.01.2026 (day)
Region attacked: Chornomorsk
Weapon/Carrier: 1 Iskander-M BM
Target: Port infrastructure, civilian vessel
Impact: At approximately 2:00 p.m., Russian forces carried out a missile strike on port infrastructure in Chornomorsk. A ballistic missile hit the container pier area at the Port of Chornomorsk, where an unidentified civilian vessel flying the Maltese flag was present. The strike caused a fire, damaged three containers, and resulted in an oil spill. One crew member was injured.
For reference: In January, surveys of the Odesa coastline recorded mass die-offs of marine organisms, particularly Black Sea seahorses (Hippocampus guttulatus). Ecologists attribute the mortality primarily to thousands of tons of vegetable oil entering the sea as a result of Russian strikes on port infrastructure. The oil settles on the seabed and is resuspended into bottom waters during storms, clogging fish gills and impairing respiration. The impact has already affected filter-feeding mussel colonies that help maintain coastal water quality. Similar effects have been documented in the Tuzly Lagoons National Nature Park.

16.01.2026
Region attacked: Odesa Oblast
Weapon/Carrier: Kh-31PD ARM from Su-30/Black Sea
Impact: Missile failed to reach target.

18.01.2026
Region attacked: Kiliia (Izmail district)
Weapon/Carrier: UAVs
Target: Energy infrastructure
Impact: Facility destroyed; fire; industrial building damaged.
For reference: Over the past several months, shelling of energy facilities in Odesa Oblast has caused significant environmental damage. According to official data from NPC Ukrenergo, debris contamination from strikes on four substations has affected a total area of 84,775 square meters. The pollution consists of structural debris, damaged equipment, and other waste left after the destruction. Environmental experts have estimated the total damage from Russian attacks at UAH 871,764,750.

Emergency power outages were introduced in Odesa, parts of Odesa district, and several district centers across the oblast.

Cross-border incident: On the morning of January 22, at approximately 09:25, a UAV about 2.5 meters long was discovered in the village of Crocmaz, Ștefan Vodă district, Moldova, near the border with Odesa Oblast. According to Moldovan police, the drone contained an unexploded explosive device.

The UN Grain Corridor operated from August 1, 2022, to July 17, 2023, when the agreement terminated due to Russia's withdrawal. The Ukrainian export corridor, that doesn’t include Russia or the UN, started operating on August 1, 2023, and continues today. The corridor passes through three ports of Odesa Oblast — Odesa Sea Port, Pivdennyi Sea Port and the Port of Chornomorsk — and the territorial waters of Ukraine, Bulgaria, and Romania.

Further details can be found at Ukrainian Black Sea Corridor as Russia's Key Military Target.
