Ukraine invites Japan to participate in construction of LNG terminal

Ukraine has invited Japan to participate in the project on the construction of a terminal for receiving liquefied natural gas (LNG) on the Black Sea, the press service of the Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Ministry has told Ukrinform.

"During the fifth joint meeting of the coordinating council on economic cooperation with Japan under the Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Ministry and the committee for economic cooperation with Ukraine of Keidanren [Japan Business Federation] the Ukrainian side proposed that the Japanese side participate in the implementation of several national projects, in particular, LNG Terminal - a marine terminal for receiving liquefied natural gas," reads the statement.

Ukraine plans to build near Odesa a terminal for receiving liquefied natural gas with a capacity of ten billion cubic meters per year. The first stage of the terminal could be commissioned by the middle of 2014.
