One-third of Olympic transport will be adapted for disabled

Visitors with disabilities will be able to attend the events of the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2014 in Sochi. To service the athletes and visitors with a disabilities 327 special buses will be used, i.e. about a third of all the Olympic fleet will be equipped accordingly, the transport Directorate of the Olympic Games reports.

30 large buses equipped for wheelchair users will service routes connecting the center of Sochi with sports facilities. 76 units of specialized equipment will be designated for transportation of Paralympics 2014 participants with limited mobility.

"Each specialized vehicle is equipped with a lifting device for wheelchairs, Braille signs for the blind and visually impaired and special call buttons for the driver," the deputy director of the Directorate of Transport Sergei Kornev is quoted by ITAR-TASS.
