Gas transit to EU 25% up in June

In June 2013 PJSC Ukrtransgas transported to Western Europe 7.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which is almost 25%, or 1.4 billion cubic meters more over the same period last year, the company's press office said in a statement Thursday.

"Overall, from the beginning of 2013, 39 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been transported through Ukraine to Western Europe and the CIS, which is only 11% less than during the same period last year," the report said.

In the first 6 months of 2013, the Ukrainian gas transit system received from the Russian Federation 10.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which is 35% or 5.6 billion cubic meters less than in same period last year.

"Despite the decrease in imports, Ukrtransgas 100% performs all applications for pumping gas through the gas transit system within the agreed terms," the company CEO Serhiy Vynokurov said.

A reminder that the volume of gas transit in 2012 amounted to 132.4 billion cubic meters.
