Ukraine ups gas transit to Europe in August by 32%

PJSC Ukrtransgaz transported 7.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Western Europe in August 2013, which was 32% more than in the same month in 2012, the company's press service has told Ukrinform.

Between January and August 2013, according to the report, Ukraine transported 54.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Western Europe and the CIS countries, which was only 3.1% less than in the same period last year.

Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine's gas transportation system has received 15.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Russia, which was 6.1 billion cubic meters, or 29% less, than in the same period last year.

PJSC Ukrtransgaz is a leading company in the transportation and storage of natural gas in Ukraine, and it is wholly owned by the state.
