State Tourism Agency invites travel operators not to sell tours to Egypt

The State Agency for Tourism and Resorts of Ukraine has advised tour operators not to organize trips to Egypt, the agency's press service has reported.

"We are turning to travel operators with a proposal to temporarily refrain from organizing tours to Egypt until the situation in this country gets better," reads the statement.

The agency stressed the need to inform tourists about possible dangers during their journey and promptly return the money or offer tours to other resorts if clients decide to refuse from tours.

"The State Agency for Tourism and Resorts advises tour operators to consider the possibility of promptly returning the funds to tourists who decided to refuse from the purchased tours to Egypt, postpone the dates of tours or replace them with travel to other countries," the agency said.

Tourists who are already in Egypt were advised to refrain from visiting crowded sites, take illegal photos and videos and not to participate in protests, demonstrations and other activities aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country. It is also not recommended to enter into debate with local communities on issues related to the political situation in Egypt.

"In case of an emergency, Ukrainian citizens should immediately contact the Ukrainian Embassy in the Arab Republic of Egypt by around-the-clock phone: 201 0000, 39648, or call the around-the-clock hotline of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry: +38 044 238 1657," the agency said.
