Moldovan political parties announce priorities for next parliamentary session

The political parties have announced their priorities for the autumn-winter parliamentary session.

The leader of the parliamentary faction of the Liberal Democratic Party, Valeriu Strelet, said that the priorities would be firstly related to supporting the government’s initiatives focused on the stages Moldova has to carry out until the Vilnius Summit, due this autumn. “It is about some legislative initiatives and certain elements of strategy, which are to be debated and adopted as priority. At the same time, we will approach our colleagues’ initiatives that have reached a rather significant number. The political agenda will be a full one,” Strelet said.

The leader of the parliamentary faction of the Democratic Party, Dumitru Diacov, said that the faction’s priorities would be the projects necessary for Moldova’s preparation for the Vilnius Summit. “During the autumn session, we also have to broach the fiscal policy and the draft state budget that must be approved before 1 October,” Diacov concluded.

Reformer MP Ion Hadirca said that the group he represented had not yet set the priorities for the session. “We intend to convene a meeting and to take the relevant decisions,” Hadirca said.

“The priority of the opposition Party of Communists remains the same: to change the government,” Communist MP Artur Resetnicov said. He added that during the autumn session, the Communist lawmakers would suggest initiatives related to social problems.
