EC concerned with the situation in Bulgaria

Bulgarian Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski met in Brussels with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.

The EC is following the situation in Bulgaria and latest events stir worries among the European partners to this country, Barroso said after the talks. He pointed out that one of the reasons for this concern is the latest appointment for the seat of chairperson of the State Agency National Security.

In this connection the EC President called all political forces in Bulgaria, who care for the future of the country, to reach consensus on key issues. Jose Barroso added that the European institution continues to monitor the fight against organized crime and corruption in Bulgaria. 

Oresharski assured the President of the EC that he would continue his efforts for bringing the situation in Bulgaria to normal.
