UN representative visits Moldovan national broadcaster

The UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Moldova, Nicola Harrington-Buhay, today paid a fact collecting visit to the News Departement of the Moldova 1 public television.

According to a communiqué by the Tleradio-Moldova state company, the official met the head of the Teleradio–Moldova, Constantin Marin and the director of the Moldova 1 public broadcaster, Mircea Surdu. The discussions were focused on the impact of the Inews system as regards the quality of the programmes broadcasted by the public institution.

The above mentioned system, worth 500.000 dollars, was implemented by the public television broadcaster on the basis of a memorandum of acceptance of a temporary custody, a document signed an year ago. The Inews system is used by the Moldova 1 in operatively writing, setting and broadcasting the news, as well as in editing and keeping records.

The meeting also approached the possibility of extending the two institutions´ collaboration. In the context, Marin asked for the UN support as regards the expertise and the setting of the technical equipment designed for the modernisation of the nr.1 studio of the Moldova 1 public broadcaster.

According to a recent decision by the Teleradio–Moldova´s Council of Observers, about 16 million lei /1.3 million dollars/ are going to be invested in retechnologisation, fact that will allow creating new TV projects.
