Chisinau International Airport to be leased

The assets of the Chisinau International Airport and its afferent land will be leased for a 49-year-period. The government approved a decision to this end on May 29.

According to the project, the private investor will be selected after a contest and will have to make investments of at least 230 million euros. The investments will be carried out in three stages depending on the increase in passenger flow served by the airport, aircraft flights and cargo transportation.

The money will be meant for carrying out the works aimed at enlarging the terminal, constructing and extending the car parking, modernising the runway, the platform, the lighting and draining system, building a new passenger terminal and a cargo terminal. The reconstruction works will start no later than one year from the signing of the concession agreement.

The royalty of leasing the assets will be of at least 1 per cent of the enterprise’s income, with a grace period of 5 years.

The private concessionaire must have a minimum experience of 10 years in providing services in the civil aviation sector and a 30 million-euro-social capital at least.
