Olympic run to take place in Moldova on May 25

The National Olympic Committee will stage the traditional run dedicated to the International Olympic Day on May 25. The 3.5-km race will bring together professional athletes, amateurs, officials and representatives of diplomatic missions, IPN reports.

«This run already became a tradition of the Olympic movement and is aimed at mobilizing those who lead a healthy lifestyle. We want as many people as possible, especially young ones, to know about our activity,» National Olympic Committee chairman Nicolae Juravschi told a news conference on May 22.

Each participant will receive by an Olympic T-shirt. On the Olympic day run, there will be also held other sports events, including a canoe race that will involve teams of politicians, journalists and artists. «We expect about 10,000 people to attend. Sport has a weight and plays a major role in society,» said Nicolae Juravschi.

The Olympic day run will start in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau at 11am. The athletes will run along Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Blvd., Vasile Alecsandri St, Bucharest St, and Sfatul Tarii St.
