Poland to finance assistance programme for Moldovan Customs Service

Poland will finance the «Combating contraband of goods, including tobacco products, by using a risk analysis system» assistance programme for Moldovan Customs Service (SV). The programme was launched last week, during a visit of a group of specialists of the Polish Customs Service, the Moldovan Customs Service has reported.

Several joint activities, such as: seminars, study visits related to risk analysis system, mobile teams ‘organisation and information exchange in the field, will be organised during the programme in 2013. In Moldovan specialists’ opinion, the implementation the project will contribute to consolidating antifraud capacities by using risk analysis in line with the European standards and practices.

During the visit, the experts of the Polish Customs Service have been familiarised with the Moldovan risk analysis system at central and local levels, visiting the Chisinau and Leuseni-based customs. They paid a special attention to the operative activity, in particular to preventing and combating illicit cigarette trafficking.

The Moldovan-Polish customs cooperation develops on the ground of an agreement on mutual collaboration and assistance in the customs area between the two states, signed in Warsaw in September 2002.

The Polish Customs Service is member of the working group on the implementation of the Moldovan-EU Customs Cooperation Strategic Framework starting 2011, being one of the main platforms of the Moldovan-EU dialogue related to customs area.
