The leader of the parliamentary faction of the Liberal Democratic Party, Valeriu Strelet, ranks fourth, up by seven positions in the top. He is followed by Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu. Interior Minister Dorin Recean ranked sixth, up by four positions in the top.

Politicon centre’s director, political analyst Anatol Taranu said that Filat was an absolute leader in the 2012 top, remaining on the same position in 2013 as well, fact that proves that “he is the most influential person in the Moldovan policy”.

«The greatest surprise in the top is the seventh position held by Sergiu Mocanu, moving up 70 positions. The leader of the Liberal Party, Mihai Ghimpu, ranked eighth, down by one position. The last positions in the top are coming to Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti and opposition Communist leader Vladimir Voronin», Taranu said.

The top 50 most influential politicians is compiled based on an assessment made by 41 experts. The politicians are evaluated depending on their influence on major decisions, their public popularity, their visibility in the media, as well as their political prospects.
