Bulgaria's mountains see record high temperatures

Three spots in different Bulgarian mountains registered record high temperatures on December 25, 2012, Christmas Day, Bulgaria's National Meteorology and Hydrology institute reported on December 25.

Mount Rozhen in the southern Rhodoppe Mountains saw the record 14 degrees Celsius on December 25, the meteorology center said.

At the same time, Mount Murgash and Mount Botev in the Stara Planina (Balkan) Mountain saw 9.7 degrees and 5.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.

There have been no immediate reports of whether the warmer weather has affected in any way the ski tracks in Bulgaria's top mountain resorts of Bansko, Borovets, Pamporov, and Vitosha.

On Christmas Day, Bulgaria as a whole saw sunny whether with higher temperatures of between 4 and 13 degrees, after it had record cold last week.
