Big freeze coming up this week in Romania

Romania is headed for some extremely cold days this week, for which meteorologists have issued a Code Yellow for blizzards in the South – Eastern regions of the country and in Moldova. Those who live in Bucharest can expect temperatures as low as minus 20°C at night on December 11 and 12.

It is expected to start snowing heavily on December 11 at 12:00 and continue until December 12 evening. Strong winds and blizzards are expected in the regions of Banat and Oltenia, as well as in Moldova and South – Eastern Romania, including in capital Bucharest. Some of the affected counties will be Argeş, Dâmboviţa, Prahova, Buzău, Brăila, Galaţi, Teleorman, Ialomiţa, Giurgiu.

Maximum temperatures on December 11 will be between -11°C in Transylvania and plus 5°C on the seaside, while minimum temperatures will range between -12°C and -2°C, while in Dobrogea temperatures will be higher, around 2-3°C.

In Bucharest, it will snow during the afternoon and at night on December 11, with maximum temperatures just above zero, and minimum ones of -4 to -2°C.
