Moldovan president awards Order of Honour to Italian ambassador

President Nicolae Timofti on November 6 received Italian Ambassador to Moldova Stefano De Leo, on the sidelines of his farewell visit to Moldova, at the presidential residence, according to the presidential press service.

The officials revised the high level of the bilateral relations, and noted that they are willing to further deepen them.

Nicolae Timofti appreciated Italy's support in Moldova's European integration path.

For his part, Stefano De Leo said that some important European officials' recent visits to Moldova come to confirm the fact that the European Union appreciates Moldova's progress in the European integration.

The officials also tackled about the great community of Moldovans in Italy. «Moldovans are hard-working people who respect the laws from the host-country», Timofti said.

In the same context, Stefano De Leo said he is willing Moldovans to come back home in order to be able to work in a country adjusted to the European standards.

Timofti handed the Order of Honour to Stefano De Leo as a token of gratitude for his special contribution to developing and deepening the friendship and cooperation relations between Moldova and Italy.

For his part, Stefano De Leo handed a picture by Arco di Costantino of Rome to Timofti «to bring triumph and success to Moldova».
