Main results of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s Kiev vis-a-avis meeting on September 13

President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan had the vis-a-avis meeting in Kiev on September 13, 2012 during which they signed a number of bilateral documents

In particular Yanukovych and Erdogan signed a joint declaration, which contains assessment of the state of implementation of the agreements of the first meeting of the high-level Ukrainian-Turkish Strategic Council, as well as identification of priorities of the parties in the key areas of the Ukrainian-Turkish relations, reports УНН.

The нead of the Ukrainian state and the head of the Turkish Government were also present at ceremony of signing of documents on the Intergovernmental Agreement on the organization of direct international rail-freight ferry.

Viktor Yanukovych noted that the joint statement, signed on the results of visit of the Head of the Government of Turkey to Ukraine, features key moments of negotiations, as well as reached agreements on the development of cooperation between the parties in all the mutual interest areas.

According to the President, the status of implementation of the agreements reached at the First meeting of the Council enjoyed appreciation during the negotiations. "Without a doubt, the August 1 introduction of simplified travel regime was our common achievement and was welcomed both in Ukraine and Turkey", - said Viktor Yanukovych.

The second meeting of the Strategic Council took place in Kiev on the same day. There the parties discussed the progress of negotiations on Free Trade Area between Ukraine and Turkey and expressed hope to finalize the agreement on FTA by the end of 2012, expressed their interest in the promotion of investment projects, especially in the energy sector.

The head of the Turkish Government Mr. Erdogan emphasized that Turkey attaches utmost importance to relations, in particular, with the Crimea and pointed out the importance of establishment of personal relationship between Crimean Tatars, residents of the peninsula and the Crimean Tatars – citizens of Turkey. "The Crimea is the area, to which we attach great importance in the relations with Ukraine, both from an economic and cultural and humanitarian points of view, - he stressed.

Moreover, the Turkish Prime Minister remarked the importance for Turkey of integration of Crimean Tatars into Ukrainian society together with preservation by them of their traditions, language and culture.
