New 1388-series boat to pass acceptance trials in Novorossiysk / Photo

A new communications ship of Project in 1388, built by Northern Shipyard, has arrived at Naval Base Novorossiysk to undergo state acceptance tests, the Russian Minsitry of Defense said.

The 1388-series cutter is intended for special tasks to ensure communication with the naval base forces and for the transport of staff officers to ships at the operation scene.

The communications vessel features advance communication and navigation systems.

Ship's dimensions: LOA – 50m, displacement - 500 tonnes, operational speed - 20 knots. The cutter is able to perform a wide range of tasks at rough seas (Force 5).
