Russian Deputy Prime Minister: «Visa regime must be introduced with some countries, from where there is flow of migrants»

«In order to protect the national interests, Russia must introduce visa regime with some countries, from where there is flow of migrants», said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak in his interview with Rossiya 24 TV channel.

According to him, visa introduction is inevitable: “Because the socio-economic development level of countries is different. If we don’t manage migration flow through the visa regime, we can not protect our country from the ethnic conflicts.”

Kozak said it is also important that negotiations are underway between Russia and the European Union on visa-free regime: “The main goal of these negotiations is strengthening of Russia’s external borders. Otherwise, we will not be able to come to an agreement with the EU, Russian citizens could not move freely in European countries.”
