Road traffic control center inaugurated in Chisinau

A Surveillance Centre for Controlling the Road Traffic and the Movement of Pedestrians was inaugurated today at the Moldovan Ministry of the Interior, in Chisinau, in the presence of Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leanca.

According to the press service of the Moldovan Government, the project has been financed from the state budget that allotted 6.5 million lei and from the Chinese financial assistance amounting to US$4.5 million.  

The Premier said that in the nearest future, on-line surveillance will be carried out on the 41st road junction and on the busiest roads in the city. Two video-surveillance systems have already been installed on the road segments Dacia Street – old Airport and Bucuresti – Maria Cebotari Streets.   

The video monitoring and control system allow indentifying not only the number plates of the vehicles, but also the physical appearance of drivers and the average speed of their cars.
