Ukrzaliznytsia wants to save UAH 18 m on electronic tickets

The refusal from the forms of travel documents thanks to a switch to electronic tickets will help the State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine (Ukrzaliznytsia) save UAH 18 million each year.

This was stated by Deputy General Director of Ukrzaliznytsia Pavlo Chekalov, the press service of the Infrastructure Ministry reported.

"We will save UAH 18 million per year following the introduction of electronic travel documents, thanks to the refusal from the forms of travel documents," he said.

Chekalov also said that in order to read information from electronic tickets Ukrzaliznytsia plans to buy about 4,000 mobile terminals for document control.

"Such devices have currently been purchased for tests on Intercity+ trains, and, in general, the fleet of passenger wagons is about 4,000, and such a reading device will be in every wagon," the company's deputy director general said.

As reported, from July 23, 2013, electronic train tickets in Ukraine acquired the status of billing documents (fiscal receipts), which is envisaged in a joint order of the Infrastructure Ministry and the Income and Tax Ministry on the approval of the mechanism for the registration of billing documents during the sale of travel documents on railway transport, which entered into force on July 9, 2013.

From August 3, electronic tickets will be sold at railway ticket offices with QR codes. In addition, from August 3, the sale of e-tickets will be introduced on Skoda trains on the Kharkiv-Simferopol-Kharkiv and Donetsk-Simferopol-Donetsk routes.

From mid September to early December 2013, electronic tickets will be introduced on such trains: No. 12 Kyiv-Simferopol, No. 64 Kyiv-Kharkiv, No. 80 Kyiv-Dnipropetrovsk, No. 91 Kyiv-Lviv, and No. 105 Kyiv-Odesa.

By the end of 2013, e-tickets will be introduced on all trains in Ukraine (about 120 pairs of trains).
