Turkish oil tanker hijacked off Gabon coast last week released

A Turkish oil tanker which was hijacked by pirates off the Gabon coast, West Africa  has been released on Monday.

Turkey's Ambassador in Libreville, Ahmet Riza Demirer told Anadolu Agency over the phone that MV Cotton named, the Malta-flagged vessel which was attacked by pirates near the Gentil Port with their crew of 24 on board have been released early Monday morning off Nigerian coast.

Demirer noted, pirates took some amount of crude oil and petrol products from the vessel.

The ship, owned by Turkish firm Geden Lines, stated on July 17 that the contact had been lost with the vessel since July 14.
