Fire in Shirvan National Park, Azerbaijan

Today at 14:50 a fire broke out on the territory of the Shirvan National Park.

According to some reports, the dry grass in the park caught fire immediately after an oil tanker owned by "Salyan OIL" passed by. The wind spread the fire over the park, and now about 100 hectares are in flames.

In connection with the fire, traffic on the Baku-Alat-Astara road has been restricted. There is danger posed to Persian gazelles living in the park. A large number of trees are on fire, APA reports.

At present, members of the MENR and fire brigades of the Emergency Ministry are taking urgent measures to extinguish the flames. Firefighters and a special helicopter have arrived at the scene.
