Moldovan Academy of Science appoints Romanian academician as member of honour

The deputy chairman of the Romanian Academy, Cristian Hera, was handed the insignia of Member of Honour of the Moldovan Academy of Science on June 12.

The rector of the University of the Moldovan Academy of Science, Maria Duca, during festive meeting, said Cristian Hera had been the deputy chairman of the Romanian Academy since 2010. Hera is also the head of the Romanian Academy’s Agricultural and Forestry Science Department as well as the chairman of the Romanian commission for soil protection.

The advisor of the Moldovan president, Mihail Sleahtitchi, said Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti would soon sign a presidential decree, according to which several Moldovan scientists would be awarded high state distinctions.

The chairman of the Moldovan Academy of Science, Gheorghe Duca, said 76 academicians so far had been appointed as Members of Honour of the Moldovan Academy of Science. The doctors Serghei Capita and Evgeni Ceazov from Russia, Irinel Popescu from Romania and Sava Constantin from Germany, are among them.

The festive meeting was organised on the 67th anniversary of the Moldovan Academy of Science.
