Government protracts Romanian Post privatization deadline, by 180 days

The Government decided to prolong with 180 days the Romanian Post's privatization deadline, taking into account that no potential investor bought the Company's presentation file till May 28.

«Given that no potential investor bought the Company's presentation file, it was approved a note on its reshuffle. The privatization deadline is prolonged by 180 days», – said Minister Delegate for Budget Liviu Voinea, after the governmental sitting.

Over 50 potential investors from Europe, Asia and the US, as well as representatives of international postal administrations and of Romanian and international investment funds held talks with representatives of the Privatisation Commission of the National Company «The Romanian Post» (CNPR), but none bought the presentation file before the established deadline, informs a release of the Ministry of Information Society (MSI) informed.

This is not the first protraction of the privatization deadline, last month MSI postponed the deadline till May 28, 2013, after the initial deadline was established for April 11, following some requests the postal administrations and the investment funds interested in the detailed assessment of the investment opportunity, and the Company's growth potential.

The Romanian State wants to select an investor to take over 51 percent of the Company through increasing its social capital.
