Bill on the artificial ground areas at Ukrainian sea ports submitted to Verkhovna Rada

The Bill «On the man-made ground areas at water facilities in the sea ports waters» has been submitted to Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The explanatory note to the bill says that the law «On the sea ports of Ukraine» regulates the legal, economic, social, and organizational basics of activities at the Ukrainian sea ports, which fact will promote the modernization of the existing facilities at the sea ports and construction of new ones, as well as the attraction of considerable private investments.

In connection with this there appears a need to increase the sea port territory. International practices offer the arrangement of man-made ground areas at water facilities and land plots, legally allotted for arrangement, servicing, and construction of the port infrastructure objects, Portnews informs.

Bill’s authors believe that at present the list of the largest problems for port development and operation in Ukraine is topped by the limitedness of their territories for enhancement of their capacities and competitiveness and by lack of opportunities for their expansion due to the absence of free land plots.
