The event is organized by the Romanian Royal Yacht Club and the Romanian Yachting Federation and this is the second year since an older tradition like the Tomis Trophy Regatta has been resumed.

More than 100 sports people from six countries are expected to vie in the contest, which includes several vessels classes namely Optimistic, Zoom 8, Laser 4.7 Laser Radial, Laser Standard, Cadet and 470. To attend the event will be top sports people from Bulgaria, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Israel, and it is practically the first time when sports people from faraway places of Europe come and vie in the Regatta, organizers inform.

Romania aligns a valuable squad just back from an international event happening in Burgas, Bulgaria where they won six medals, three gold, one silver and two bronze.

The Tomis Trophy jury numbers judges from the Netherlands, Israel, Turkey, and Romania.

The Trophy is the single Romanian yachting contest in the calendar of the International Optimist Dinghy Association (IODA), which brings together the most important international contests of this very popular class.
