KazTransOil head Kayrgeldy Kabyldin (Kazakhstan) has called transfers of Kazakh oil from the Kashagan Field through Azerbaijan a priority. He called the route an achievement of Azerbaijani National Leader Heydar Aliyev, Trend reports.

Prime Minister Nurlan Balgimbayev and President Heydar Aliyev said that Kazakh oil should be transported through Azerbaijan to the world markets. Kabyldin reminded that construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline enforces stability and security of oil shipments.

Chevron (US), operator of the Tengiz Field of Kazakhstan, started transporting Kazakh oil via tankers through the Caspian Sea using the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline in October 2008. The pipeline was used to transport 314,000 tons of oil in 2008.
