Romania and Ukraine to develop transport cooperation

The Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure seeks for development of transport communication with Romania and Slovakia. With this purpose in mind, on April 25, 2013 the Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Kozak held meetings with Romanian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Ukraine Cornel Ionescu and Slovakian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Ukraine Pavol Hamžík.

In the course of negotiations Volodymyr Kozak and Cornel Ionescu have discussed the possibilities for cooperation in development of the air service and automobile transport.

In particular, according to the Minister, the existing quota of permits for international transportation by automobiles does not fully satisfy the needs of transporters. That is why the next important issue for discussion includes the consideration of a possibility for liberalization of automobile transportation, since the permit-free system for international haulers will ensure the stability of the traffic flow and will result in the growth of commerce between the Ukraine and Romania.

Cornel Ionescu has noted the interest in renovation of the direct air communication between Bucharest and Kyiv. Volodymyr Kozak has underlined that Ukraine fully supports such initiative.
