Moldovan trade unions postpone solidarity march of 1 May

The trade unions’ solidarity march, due on 1 May 2013, has been postponed. A decision in this respect was adopted by the General Council of the Moldovan National Trade Union Confederation (CNSM) at a meeting on April 23.

Thus, the march will be organised on 7 June 2013, when the Moldovan trade union activists and members mark the Trade Unionist Day, for the seventh year in a row.

The CNSM said that it had decided to postpone the action due to the fact that some political parties would also organise marches on the same day. The CNSM said that, by this decision, it would avoid the trade unions’ politicisation.

According to information provided by the Chisinau City Hall, the Socialist Party and the Party of Communists, as well as the CNSM have submitted declarations informing the authorities about their intention of organising marches in Chisinau on 1 May.
