Moldovan child birth certificates could no longer contain parents’ nationality, ethnic origin

The parliament adopted on April 19, 2013 a draft law stipulating that the nationality of parents and their ethnic origin would no longer be indicated in the child’s birth certificate.

The MPs today operated amendments to the law on the marital status certificates. Under the law, the birth certificates will no longer include the parents’ nationality and their ethnic origin.

According to the legislation, the certificates will contain only standard information and people who will need confirmation of nationality and of ethnic origin could request an extract from the Justice Ministry.
