Moldova declares 2013 as European Year of Citizens

The Moldovan parliament on April 19 declared 2013 as the European Year of Citizens.

The draft law was elaborated by the Foreign and European Integration Ministry and is meant to inform citizens of the signification of the EU integration process.

The draft law provides for a string of actions. In the next months, Moldova would host events that promote participatory civil culture-related values. The events would also inform Moldovan citizens of the EU integration process and would involve them in transboundary and EU-related actions.

Moldova is also carrying out actions dedicated to the year of the Moldovan writer Spiridon Vangheli in 2013.
