The Moldovan parliament on April 11 ratified the Moldovan-Turkish governmental agreement on a visa free regime, which had been signed in Ankara on 1 November 2012.

Acting Foreign and European Integration Minister Iurie Leanca presented the agreement during the parliament’s meeting. According to Leanca, the document is meant to exempt Moldovan and Turkish citizens from visas.

According to the agreement, both Moldovan and Turkish citizens would be allowed to enter, transit and reside on the signatory countries’ territory for no more than 90 days. The provisions of the document would also apply for citizens who perform international transportation of goods and passengers. However, the visa free regime would not grant citizens the right to get employed.

The Turkish side must also ratify the agreement so it could enter into force. Leanca said officials were taking efforts in order make possible the agreement’s entrance into force by early summer.
