Moldovan customs service to facilitate vignette collection procedure during Easter Holidays

The Moldovan Customs Service has announced about the facilitation of the tax collection procedures for cars with foreign license plates that will enter the Moldovan territory during the period of Easter Holidays (May 1-15). The head of the Information Technologies Department of the Customs Service, Tudor Dabija, made this statement on April 3.

He said that the road vignettes can be purchased and registered at ten vehicle access gates, including at several internal motor vehicle crossing points: Chisinau, Balti, Edinet, Drochia, Ungheni, Falesti, Orhei, Calarasi, Comrat and Causeni, starting from 08:00 to 17:00. In order to avoid any corruption cases, video-surveillance will be conducted during the customs clearance procedures.

Dabija also said that both natural persons and legal entities that don’t have the checks proving they had paid the road fee, and who present an expired vignette, will be fined. The late payment charges for a period of up to seven days will stand at 2 thousand lei, whereas for more than seven days – at 2.6 thousand lei. The repeated attempt to ignore the payment of the vignette will be fined 6 thousand lei.
