Georgia hails talks with Russia over resumption of vegetable imports

Georgia welcomes the talks with Russia concerning possible resumption of imports of Georgian vegetables to Russia, the head of the Georgian National Provisions Agency, Zurab Chekurashvili, says.

The official told the Imedi TV channel that the parties have reached an agreement that Russia will allow Georgian imports, if the products delivered are of good quality.

Russia banned Georgian imports during the 2008 war. The resumption of trade ties has been one of the Ivanishvili administration's priorities since the Georgian Dream coalition won the parliamentary election last year.
