32 thousand companies with foreign capital registered in Turkey

Turkish Ministry of Economy has announced that in 2012 the number of companies with international capital exceeded 30 thousands, and more than a half of them come from the European Union countries.

By the end of 2012 32604 foreign companies were registered in Turkey, and 5494 of them have local capital.

Almost a third of all companies are involved in wholesale and retail trade, 16% work in the real estate business, and 15% – in production. 553 out of 4980 production companies make chemical products, 520 – foodstuffs, and 483 – alcohol and tobacco products.

The list of the most active players at the Turkish market includes German (5158), English (2446), and Dutch (2105) companies.

The European Union countries are followed by the neighboring and Middle East ones, which include such leaders as Iran (2872 companies), Azerbaijan (1190), and Iraq (1009).

Istanbul is still the center of gravity for investors – foreigners have established 18968 companies here. The list of other popular provinces and cities includes Anatolia, Ankara, Izmir, Mugla, Bursa, Mersin, Aydin, Kocaeli, and Hatay.
