Cernavoda nuclear plant unit 2 restarts, no incident recorded

Unit 2 of Cernavoda Nuclear Plant (southeastern Romania) was reconnected on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 7:25 PM, to the national grid, immediately after the causes of the disconnection were clarified and the remedial measures taken, according to a release from Nuclearelectrica company.

The disconnect occurred due to the activation of a protection control system at the electric generator. The reactor was disconnected from the grid on March 9, 2013, around 8:45 am, due to signals received from its excitation system.

The reconnect activities took place respecting the plant procedures, as well as the rules of protection and security, with no adverse impact on population, personnel, installations and environment, reads the release.
