Czech foreign minister says Moldova has chances to sign EU association agreement in 2013

Moldova has real chances to sign an association agreement with the EU until late 2013 “provided that nothing unexpected happens”. Czech Deputy Premier, Foreign Affairs Minister Karel Schwarzenberg has made statements to this effect after meeting Deputy Premier, Foreign and European Integration Minister Iurie Leanca on March 1, 2013.

Schwarzenberg appreciated the achievements Moldova has lately registered as regards the European integration path. He also said that all Moldova’s politicians should contribute to the instauration of stability in the country, which will allow continuing the started reforms.

Leanca said that Schwarzenberg´s visit shows the EU interest in Molodva´s political situation and in its issues and goals. “By these visits, the foreign colleagues make us mobilize in order to return to normality, to find a common point within the Alliance and to implement the European agenda goals,” Leanca said.

Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg is paying an official visit to Moldova on 28 February - 01 March at the invitation of his Moldovan counterpart, Iurie Leanca. During the visit, the Czech official will meet President Nicolae Timofti and Prime Minister Vlad Filat.
