Bulgaria – a Treasure of Speech exhibition opens in EP

The exhibition Bulgaria – a Treasure of Speech is on display as of February 27 at the European Parliament in Brussels.

The exhibition is on the occasion of the 1150th anniversary of the Great Moravian Mission of the creators of the Slavic alphabet, St. St. Cyril and Methodius, equal to the apostles and patrons of Europe.

Their translation of the Holy script defends the right of the Bulgarian language to exist side by side with Latin, Greek and Hebrew. Through this deed the Holy Brothers are ahead of the reformation in worship in Medieval Europe by some five centuries.

The Great Moravian mission consists of spreading the Slavic alphabet among the other Slavic peoples as well. Today over 300 million people are using that script all over the world. The exposition presents the artistic and thematic diversity of Bulgaria’s medieval literary tradition. On February 28 Bulgaria’s Days in Brussels will continue at the European Commission with a series of music and art events.
