Georgia’s trade balance deficit hits $272 million in January 2013

Georgian foreign trade turnover increased by one per cent, amounting to $665 million in January 2013 compared to the same month of 2012, the Georgian Statistics Agency said on February 18, Trend reports.

According to the preliminary data, the volume of Georgia's exports in the first month of this year amounted to $196 million or 25 per cent more than in January 2012. The volume of Georgia's imports in January 2013 amounted to $468 million, or six per cent less than in the same month of last year.

The negative trade balance hit $272 million, or 41 per cent of the total foreign trade turnover.
